04 636 oil light and valve knock
knock, tick, same thing... ones just louder than the other!
and 05zx6r i highly doubt his oil pump would go bad... sure they could go bad at super high miles but i doubt it would with that few miles. how many are on this bike?

It's an 04 with about 19,000 on it. the oil pump is not bad like I said, Its just not allowing oil to get in the head and to the sensor but its pumping into the filter. go figure![

If it's knocking and you have the oil light on, then you have a problem. The water pump shaft is also the oil pump shaft and it may have gotten damaged during the fall if it was on the LH side. But if you had oil pumping out of the oil filter, the oil pump seems to be working. Is there enough oil in the engine? Are you sure?
thanks for all the help and advice guys, I started the motor and cracked the oil filter till oil came out to bleed all the air out of the motor. I must have had alot of iar in the top end cause it took 4 times of starting and cracking and topping off the oil but the valves eventually quieted down and now its less noisy then it ever was! thanks again guys.
Glad it worked out. Yes, it take a while for the oil light to go out. It is best to fill the oil filter as much as you canwith fresh oil before installing it. It usually take afew timesof flling it and waiting for it to get soaked in and settle before it's totally full. Then you have to install it quickly because the oil tries to spill when you turnthe filteron it's side. By filling the filter, there is lesstime the engine is starved of oil.
