Default 10R chewing up tires?

I have a 2004 10R that I bought fall of 06.... it was a demo bike with 1700 miles on it... I had to replace my origional rear tire at 3300 miles and now the new bridgestone (190/55) I put on it is almost done at 6100 miles... I never wheelie or lock up the rear brakes, I do lay into it sometimes but mostly I travel at freeway speeds on decent pavement to meet up with friends and ride. It has been laid over once but a professional inspection showed no damage to the frame or swingarm... am I doing something wrong or is there something I need to fix with my suspension settings or do these bikes just eat up rear tires really bad?

congrats on the ride razorback. If you can get 6100 miles out of a rear (not my choice of tire), than you are doiing well. So tell us your sags and setup. Especially since every rider is different. Welcome to KF

Sorry bad wording on my part... 3200 miles out of the first tire 2900 miles out of the second tire for a total of 6100 miles on the bike... thx

hahaha, yes but no biggey. A street tire at 2900 miles is doing well in my opinion. My Qualifier tires formed a hwy flatspot down the center on my last 2200 mile weekend ride in 06. Think I put on 3300 hwy and backroad miles on that set total before swapping them out. I did not play with side grip too much.

Update: Here is a pic of the pirelli SC pro side grip testing after 5 track days. These are being changed out to my zx7 just because of heat cycling only. This tire is classified as a sticky street tire, and may hit the 2500 mile mark, that will be close I think.

thanks for all the input guys.... I don't feel too bad then. I got a total of 3600mi outta that bridgestone bt016.... I've now put another on and still riding..... If it is gonna cost me a new tire every 3-4k mi its worth it cause this 10R is prolly the best bike I've ever ridden.....
