I would say you will definetly save over half the cost to do it yourself than paying a professional painter. definetly wouldn't want to plan on painting this thing half a$$ though. With spray cans, you'll need a plastic primer, paint, and also clear coat. Two coats of primers and three coats paint. Once over with clear. The lighter your coats the smoother your finish will be and less time it will take between coats to dry. Additionally, each coat needs it's time and space, due to air density or some crap we can't explain. Time is money so spend time on it. Professionals wet sand their final coat of paint with the finest of sand paper , wash it, then clear coat their finished product. For your own good be sure to use a room with proper ventillation.

I've been considering what to do with the paint since the day that I crashed it and realized I need a new paint job (5 months), so I'm sure that this is what I want to do.

I know I don't NEED to get it painted, but the left back fairing with random spots of pink and white from the bondo and fiberglass aren't very attractive

if you read, take your time, and ask questions here if you are stuck on something...you will be just fine. To me a $100-$200 botched paint job I did myself is pretty cheap, and the learning experience is PRICELESS. Since we are on the subject....Im right in the middle of putting a new engine/crankcase assembly in my sons 110CC pocketbike, and while we are at it, Im painting it all silver WITH SPRAY CANS. Will post pics on how damn good its looking when Im done. If you know what you are doing, you can use spray cans to get a pretty damn good result CHEAP. That is, if you take the time to prep it right and spray light coats and not heavy ones. I do have to admit, I have been painting now for like 16 years including about anything but airplanes. Good luck, and please do try, the learning is SOOO worth it in the long run.
