Oil
Does anyone know if Valvoline 20W-50W Auto Racing motor oil can be used in my new 500 kow?
Specificly if there are any additives in it that will mess up the wet clutch. I know that moly additives and Slick 500 will mess up a clutch big time. In my effort to save a few dollars am I on the road to screwing up my bike?

Just use the recommended oil Kawasaki says to use, that’s your safest and cheapest way. If you want better change to Full synthetic or a blend. I used Yamalube for ever but now use Mutol full syn and there is a difference. Also is a difference in cost about 65.00 per oil change.
I found a site www.yft.org/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm which answered my question (is valvoline 20W50 racing oil safe on the clutch). It is ! I can get this oil for $1.29 a quart buy a K N oil filter and change my own oil for under 18 dollars instesd of the 55 dollars the dealer charges.
I also plan on getting a shop manual and doing my own wrenching. Us retirees are fiscally conservative...read cheapskates.

I agree 100% about doing your own service. It is relatively easy and fun too.
Good luck bro.
