RE: Ninja 500 Dealer Price
I was feeling pretty good about my $3999 '06 leftover. Now I feel like I may have paid too much.
It's a new bike with 0 miles on it, but did I get a good deal?
I'm in NY and didn't have many choices on Eastern LI. Dealers have a captive audience.

RE: Ninja 500 Dealer Price
You got an excellent price.
I felt lucky to get my '06 (LAST YEAR) for MSRP+tax, title, license without having to pay any extra dealership add-ons.
Your local demographics are as important as the season for getting a good price. The difficulties in finding a good deal in Southern California are:
~It's always Spring here so there is never an off-season when you can take advantage of a dealership's down-time.
~All the military bases around here. Every young snuffy is returning from the sandbox with a full year's worth of unspent base-pay.
The unfortunate end result of this increased demand for bikes is that the dealerships charge full MSRP plus their BS add-ons like assembly, handling, and prep-fees. These are already factored into the MSRP, but young fire-pissers don't mind paying a few extra hundred dollars.
I paid $5049+t/t/l back in January of '07. You got a great deal IMO.
Peace!

It's a real shame dealers have us over a barrel but I guess it's the nature of business. I was warned prior to my visit to a dealer about the "additional" costs.
Thanks for the info.

RE: Ninja 500 Dealer Price
The dealership only has us over the barrel if we're too desperate for a bike to use common sense, (which, alas, many young men are in Springtime.) It's not easy to run a dealership and there are many and much easier ways to get rich.
In fact, they probably feel like we have them over the barrel during the winter months when there's snow on the ground.

As a matter of fact, early last month. It didn't snow here, but it rained up a monsoon. Palomar Mountain is a little more than half an hour from here and it was buried in snow. The snow level got down to <2800 feet.
But you can laugh at this, because it certainly didn't affect motorcycle sales. The weather is disgustingly perfect in our little coastal desert here--we get rain like last month's about once every 7 years; also the nighttime temps in winter rare get below 50 and the daytime temps in summer rarely get above 90. But of course, not having snow means there is no good time to buy a motorcycle here.
