2001 Kawasaki Ninja 250 Price Check
I am looking at a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 250R(i think) on eBay right now that has a starting bid of $1450 and a buyout price of $2000. I want to know if these are good prices for such a bike. It has 1950 miles on it and according to the seller no physical problems accept for a small dent on the gas tank.
My Hubby and I were looking for me a used 250 on Ebay and every dealer within 200 miles of Ashland, KY. For one with low miles and in decent shape we were looking at around 2000 even for 99 models. I could not believe how much the older bikes were selling for?? He said he could not see paying 2000 for an older one when he could buy a new one for 2700.
One thing to keep in mind with the 250's and 500's is that most people buy them to start out on. Most of them aren't 'abused' too bad and it also seems that most people trade up for a bigger bike after one season (or one year for you folks that don't have cold, snowy winters!). I think that is why they tend to hold their value pretty good if they were well maintained. You should take into consideration the price difference between buying new/used and weigh out the options.
I bought a 1994 Ninja 500 that had 28,320 km on it. I paid $3,400 canadian for it. If I had bought a brand new one it would have cost me close to $8,000. I got a good deal on mine, it is in perfect condition and was well maintained.
