another thing to try, if it doesnt work standing off to the side:
sit on the bike and stand up. hold the bike up and have it in neutral.put your left foot on the little peg thing on the centerstand, and push it down until it just contacts the ground. then in one fluid motion, step down hard on it and pull back on the handlebars. should pop right up.

Here's another question...
How do you get it DOWN?
I got it up with no problems, no effort. But every single time that I try to get it down, it starts to wobble and nearly tips over (luckily, I have enough body weight to correct that).

dp3, on my '88 ninja 750, I would sit on the ride, both feet on the ground and push forward with the shoulders and push back with the feet. The CS springs back into place and the rear tire hits the ground. Since both feet are already planted on the ground, everything feels stable.
