bike update
well i just returned from a 65 mile ride, where i attempted to duplicate every scenario i could and the only trouble i had was i forgot to turn the gas back on once lol so it appears im trouble free for the time bein yeah!
Great! Now that you're up and running why don't you head on out and put my engine back together so I can be running like a top too!
heh, glad you're all set. sounds like you were having a lot of problems there for a while.

as usual i overreacted to the situation but man...the first bike i had i drove 1 day and popped the head gasket after $350 later it still didnt act right so i got rid of it...now i get this other bike the ex500 and its only bout a month and all of a sudden it wont start, wont stay running, damn fuses start poppin left and right...it was jus so much and all at once...and nothin was consistant which made trackin it down a major pita for me(maybe some mechanic that charges $50 an hour may have been faster , but i wasnt payin that kinda hiway robbery lol)..seein how the frame appears to "wrap" around the engines on these bikes ...lol good luck w/ that
It's not as bad as it seems. There is a portion of the frame that is bolted on on the right side of the bike. 4 bolts take that off and another 3 bolts mount the engine. A naked bike and a floor jack make the job pretty easy.

iroc,
That's okay, I'll make my co-op help me. Well, technically he's part-time now, not a co-op anymore. But if he still wants me to help him rebuild the suspension on his 250 he'd be wise to help with the engine, lol.
besides, it'd be quit a haul... i'm in buffalo.
Kawacon,
It's not bad at all to pull the engine. There are a lot of steps, but as long as you get a manual and follow the steps in the proper order you'll be fine. There are hoses to remove/label wires to remove/label drain coolant, take off the tank.
I don't remember everything involved, but I just followed along with the haynes manual and I had the engine out in no time.
good luck guys!
