Hello all. I am looking to purchase my first bike and have a few ?'s. I am leaning towards a Ninja 500. The prices I have been finding are right around $5,000 for an 07 but I came across a new one listed at $4,000. It was blue in color and if I remember correctly I thought it just said Ninja 500 not 500R. Just wondering what the differance is and why such a $ differance also.Thanks for any and all replies.

 

luckycaribou, don't worry about the "R" on the end...they are all the same bike (at least for the years you are talking about). Also the blue bike you mention is definitely not a 2007 as 2007's are either Silver or Yellow. I think the latest blue model was from 2000 (in which case 4k is not a good deal). good starter bike, fast bike, will run late 12's in the quarter but tame for a beginner still

i would say buy a nice used one, save some money, they've been making the bike for 20 years now, no need to buy a new one, shop around a bit

 

My 2003 is dark blue. I think it was the last year to be blue...each year they have two colors, you can maybe find it on kawasaki website.

 

FYI, I believe my GF's 500 is a blue 2004, so the blue version have existed in more recent model years.
