Default Engine up options for 500

so i'm about to buy an '89 500 with 28k. i checked it out in person with a professional and the engine, brakes, tranny, tires, lines and hoses all look good, sound and run great. Is $700 a good buy? Also I waswas wondering what my options are for affordable engine/exhast upgrades. any ideas? what has everyone put on theirs? any help would be greatly appreciated.

The most common upgrades are the air filters (i.e. K&N)and the jet kits (i.e. Factory pro).

You can also change the cylinders to raise the engine size to 520 cc. The kit is from Wiseco.

There is another racing site where you can find a lot of stuff for the engine, but I don't remember the name.

Another usefull upgrade would be to rise the rear of your bike changeing the dogbones. you can find thom in another forum, but I don't remember in which one.

I found a kit that makes a 600CC motor. Its a little bit of work, but I am thinking about pulling out my motor in the winter and doing this. Check it out

Make sure you use a reputable machine shop. I can't imagine there is a whole lot of clearance for overboring the cylinder walls in such a small engine.
