Good day all. yes I did the search first befor asking this question. I have a 73-74 90cc enduro, or what is called a dual sport these days. The engine is shot, can't even take the jug off. Are there any options for repower, other than the 90 that's in it. Will other models/years bolt right in? I'm not looking for a kx motor but something around 80/100 cc. It's for 2 girls, and a they have no experience with motor cycles. Thanks for any help in advance.

Please, take this in the right way, I'd get something else. Find a low buck KD 100 (the newer version of what you have) or some Honda XR80-100. And there is no way in heck any KX engine is the right thing for a couple of kids starting out. Don't let the small displacement fool you, the KX is a high strung race engine, not a small play bike engine. It is harder to ride than a KX 250 due to the power delivery.

 

I know what a kx is, and I don't want one. I can buy a fresh 2001 yz 125 for 700 bones, and then make a run to the hospital within 20 minutes with one or both of my daughters. I've ridden cr's,yz's,rm's,kx's. and even the hodaka race bikes. I figued this would be a nice bike for the girls to cut their teeth on, both riding and working on it. Sounds like they will take it apart and put it in the dumster.


It's funny. I had a honda atc, road it for years. My Father sold it and the same day the new owners made a run to the hospital. First ride, broken bones.

Sorry, I misread your original post, missing the magic word - NOT. My apologies. I guess I just saw KX and after so many years of people asking about swapping engines in bikes I missed the most important word.

I just looked again and saw you mentioned Hodakas... I gotta quit doing this at 5:30 in the morning. I keep missing stuff.
