Default stock exaust cut-off

i have a 2000 ninja 250. i was wondering if it is possible to cut off the silencers (i've been told they are the last half inch of the twin exausts). i want to make it louder without having to pay for a new exaust...i dont want to cut the exaust up only to find it makes a lot of noise but barely moves....i have been told this works, but i would have to re-jet it. if you or anyone you know has done this, please let me know how it went.

I had a 250 ninja. I just got a drill and drilled the rivets out and took the baffles out. It sounded great. I think I put the covers back on. It has been 10 yrs since I had one.

no didnt have to do anything but ride it. Like I said I had a 1995 model or something around that year. It just had 3 or 4 rivets per pipe. I didnt do anything and I never had a problem with the bike not starting or running . It did just fine.
