Zx9r first bike
HEY, I'm new to the forum. I just got my first bike, a 94 ZX9R. It is damn heavy compared to my bro's R6, but got it for only $2k. It's just going to be for getting to work and early morning riding on the weekends.
Bike has been dropped in driveway, cracks on left side fairing(I think its called) and tail but seems to be in GOOD mechanical condition. Cosmetically, it's a mess.
Is there anything everyone on here would recommend to me?
Classes? Preventative maintenence?
As of right now, the bike scares the **** out of me and i havent even had the ***** to take it outside my block, much less shift out of first . I barely know how to shift. Clutch and throttle are alot tighter than i assumed.

First off, welcome to the KF family. A ZX9R is a great bike. I really wouldn't mind having one, but I want fuel injection. I would definately recommend going to a MSF course. It'll teach you how to ride properly, so you don't have to un-learn bad habits later. Welcome to the obsession known as riding!

Welcome I don't think a ZX-9 is the best bike to learn on but oh well. Take it VERY easy and don't get suckered into going faster than your ready for for a long time. And definitly take an MSF course before you attempt to ride that thing.

Welcome to KF.
Post up the pics and of the mileage. Going into a heavy ride with power may be intimidating enough to make it a poor choice in your very first ride. Get comfy with it and take the msf as suggested. Do not feel bad if you go down to a 250 or so just to get comfy on a bike first. Again welcome.
