Default Installing power outlet

I would like to install a power outlet / cigarette plug on to my bike.

Can anyone recommend where to purchase a weather proof plug and also how to install it step by step for a kawasaki Vulan 900 classic. I am handy but prefer to follow clear instructions.

I would like to ask a general question regarding the battery. My battery ont he Vulcan 900 seem to discharge after 3 weeks; not dead but not enough power to crank but to click. Is this normal?

Thank you a head a time for your input.

First of all you need to wire in a plug to the battery for a battery maintainer. How old is your battery? It should take longer than 3 weeks to discharge like that. Although I read somewhere that for every day that a battery sits with no charge going in, it loses about 1% But you might need a new battery. As far as wiring in a 12v power plug, just wire it straight to the battery with a 20 amp in-line fuse on the positive side.

I installed on both bikes and now have a way not only to charge a phone or run a GPS, but I can also quick connect the battery maintainer so I don't have to take off side panels, and bonus I can jumper between both bikes in case someone ran their battery down by leaving the light on...(no names to protect my wife) LOL

Yeah its an awesome mod for the bike. I keep the blackberry charged in the tank bag. I added one on the wife's bike as well. Plus she got the heated hand grips.

It's also nice since the bikes can both be reversed charged with the battery maintainer. Just plug and play baby!

And bonus, I made a plug in jumper that works great. That way if someone leaves thier key on and the battery gets low, all I have to do is plug in and wait 3-5 minutes, and it will fire up the dead bike. Already tested in the garage.

Default Thank you for the terrific information Deej

So wiring directly to the battery is ok. I was worried that the direct wiring will somehow hinder the battery.

Deej, can you make a recommendation where can I purchase a weather proof power outlet or a cigarette plug.

Regarding the battery, I did purchase another battery (Gel type), it was explained to me that is a better battery.

Now I have it out of the bike and on a battery tender; no electrical outlet in my condo garage.

Deej thank you for the pictures and your input.

Your are right to tread softly around the Mrs. when it come to critizism. LOL
