Default harsh ride!!

hya all i`m new on here! looks gr8 tho`
i need some help & my problem is driving me crazy!!
i own a ZX-6r 636 2004 bike (4weeks) & i have found the ride is much too harsh & hard & the rear is way too high (i`m only 5`6" tall & i feel like i`m tipping over the front & getting back & neck ache a lot how do i soften up the ride & lower the rear end by quite a bit? also can the front be raised to aid me in this? i won`t be using the bike for any track days so hopefully with some modifications i can start to enjoy the ride a lot more, many tnx in anticipation for any replies Steve

1st set your sag then lighten up the compression on the rear shock and front forks. read your owners manuel and it will tell you what and where. and btw, welcome to the kf family.

hey welcome to the forum..... what the guys have said is right, and you could also go with a taller tire on the from... from a 65, if thats what you have to a 70..... this will bring the front endup a bit...... good luck and post soem pics when you have the chance....

Welcome! The 03-04's had a very stiff spring rates; perfect for the track as they came stock but too hard for the street. Unfortunately, the 04's were stiffer/ higher rate springs. You can soften it up to the minimum setting in your owners manual. To soften them up beyond that, you'd have to replace the shock springs and fork springs or use 05 shock and forks which are a lot softer and can be adjusted for full street, full track or in between. I have 05 suspension on my 03 and it made a great difference/ improvement. You can get 05/06 shocks & forks on ebay fairly cheap and the gold shock looks great on the 03/04's.

Welcome. As far as the rear being high you have to remember that this is a sport bike, it is made to be aggressive and that is tail up and nose down. Use your legs to hold on and get your weight off the bars and you will feel better.

Get your sag set so the suspension can properly work and then there is a little height adjustment; read the manual like evil said all the info is there.
