Default Suspension seems harsh on rocky trails

I was expecting a smoother ride since the suspension seems so soft on the road. I was surprised at how harsh the ride was hitting the rocky trails. I haven't played around with the adjusters yet, but that doesn't usually make a huge difference anyway. Anyone found a cure? Different valving?
Thanks

At the very least you'll need to respring the forks and possibly the shock.

If you tell me how much you weight and the type of off-road riding you do, I can tell you what springs you will need.

Ride.

With gear, only 150lbs so I should be about the right weight for the stock suspension. I'll play with the clickers and maybe air my tires down and see if that helps b/f I spend a bunch of money on suspension work. I forgot that I was running about 20 lbs of air so that probably didn't help any.
Thanks

Your a jockey unless your gear is helmet and sandels. And a scarf. Are you the same crf230 who wants to put oversized bars on his/her bike? How do you get on it?. Not being insulting or anything(Deej will see to that). Or maybe you are a jockey on the day off and want to go fast, if so front springs go higher than they say if they say .42 and you are a hard little guy/gal go at least .44. Rear I my not sure, I'm 155 naked, geared up and ready to rock and roll I'm 184 I went for way heavier front springs but the rear has been good so far, but that was with meticulas setup.

Probably the reason why the suspension feels harsh is because of your weight. Too light and the suspension can't cushion. I weigh 220lbs and the suspension is plenty plush for the off-road. But a little soft on the road. I just like riding as it is.

Excuse me but you said you have not played with the clickers. Maybe they are set at max. Like LearjetMinako said set your suspension 220 versus 150 no diff?HUH.

Good tires, good footpegs, I always have 34 inch bars and the trees are 32 inches apart, one miss count and I'm back to Mr no knuckles. Or how did ya beat me with 2 fingers on 1 hand? The joy and experience of riding, they dont get it?

rocky trails are going to feel harsh. air down the tires a bit that will definitely take the rough edge off a rocky trail.. watch out for pinch flats though.

Try about 15-18 psi in the rocks. I wouldn't run below 15 psi if it is really rocky or else you may pinch a tube. 20 psi is pretty high that maybe your problem. I usually run 18 psi in the rocks (but I weigh about 220 lbs) but my bike is still super plush. Does your bike have OEM fork oil? If you bought the bike used the PO may have put in heavier fork oil. Before you spend the money on valving I'd try changing the fork oil if you aren't sure of it's weight or condition. At 150 lbs your bike should be sprung correctly.
