2002 KLX110 Top End
Hello,
Newbie here to the sight, and need some help/advice. My son has a 2002 KLX110 we bought about 3 years ago for $400.00. All we had to do was rebuild the carb and it fired right up and has been a great bike until recently. We went to Johnson Valley and had 60 MPH gusts of winds. Our RZR and quads and dirt bikes were all outside, but parked on the opposite side of our RV and thus blocked by the wind, so I thought. The last day there the 110 would not start, had no compression in it's kick. We got home and I eventually got around to looking at it, and what I found blew me away. Apparently it blew so hard that sand/grit went threw the uni type filter we had installed on the front of it, and basically filled up the carb and I'm sure went into the cylinder. I believe the top end is now done. At this point I'd like to just keep it stock and not go with a big bore kit. So questions, seems the 2002 is maybe different than the 2003 & later KLX 110's? And what are my options for a top end? This will have been the first top end I've done. Not worried about actually doing it, I've built VW motors and VW's, but don't know anything about these little machines. Thanks!
