Why is my KLX250s hard to start after it sits for more than a few days?

Draining the fuel bowl was the first thing I did. No dice. Will look into the starter jet mod next.

That's disquieting, a good draining should not fail.. The starter jet is the fuel supply for the choke mechanism. Pull it on and you get extra fuel from the starter jet.. Just FYI..

Each year as winter approaches we get a group of new KLX owners describing cold start problems. Nothing new here. If the draining, shaking, dancing and prancing don't do the trick, drill the starter jet.

And if that doesn't work, suck start it.

Two Words....Corn Gas! Let's keep corn where it belongs...on the dinner table or in the cow troff.

I had to pull the main jet out a couple of months ago, first time ever. It was on my wife's XT 225. Stupid greenish crud.

I've been watching some Longmire on Netflix. It's a good series.
I don't think Rainier is brewed in WA any longer. Pabst now owns Rainier and Miller brews most of Pabst's beers.

Open the KLX250 cheap mods in my signature. There is a picture and description of the drilling including the number drill/size. In addition there is the MCM link for the basic how-to without all the peripheral stuff which also does have one peripheral - disabling the compression release. It isn't necessary for the 250. None of the rest have compression releases on e-start models. I even tried starting my bike in 8 deg F to see how it would spin - no problem, fired up fine.

The compression release is a hold over from the kick start only bikes, first KLX250R (94-95) and KLX300R.

So... Deej is alive, but can't spell (Troff?).. Lots of talk about a regional beer.. A TV/Netflix show.. Idaho.. And KLX768 wants to remind us of his his sig links and the uselessness of the KACR..

You gotta love this place..
