i get similiar problems with my KLR every once in awhile.......it may be the vaccum mechanism in the petcock malfunctioning and getting stuck. i'm in the process of making it a gravity only petcock.....just a thoughtive taken carbs apart many times looking for probs and never found anything clogged or not adjusted right
