Given the small stator output of this bike (224 watts I'm told), I would do 35 watts on the headlight, then add the Solstice or Denali LED lights (10 watts each) and end up with vastly superior light than the stock 55w setup. This is what I have on my DR650 and love it.

I agree on color temp. I have 6000k on my DR650 and it's too blue for my tastes. Since I'm switching to a single-filament setup on it, I'm going to switch to 5000k. I have the 55w 5000k setup in my car (2008 WRX) and LOVE it... it's almost too much light sometimes.

According to DDM more wattage in the ballast "washes out" the bulb color. So my 6000k would look like a lower temperature bulb, thus whiter. Though I definitely could see there being too much light at times on road. With this setup on high I can see signs lights up with the high beam nearly half a mile down the frontage roads.

I am still waiting for DDM to start processing my claim on the ballast. Whew.
