Valve noise, adjustment, cam chain
#51
Yeah they do tend to rattle... I'm 100% positive the cam chain tightened up a notch because it got alot quieter, but they still rattle. I'm dead set now to just bring it to the shop and have the wrench do it. He did my dad's a year ago, and his bike hasn't exploded yet.

If you don't know I just had to have my cams and tappets replaced under warranty. One of the cam lobes ate into the tappet. Could be coincidence, but who knows. Could have but the cams in a bind.

You'll be fine don't worry. Its a fairly straight forward procedure outlined here somewhere in the faq and the shop manual floats around the site from time to time. If you don't wanna mess with it take it in, I cannot see the adjustment taking a tech more than an hour or an hour and a half, making it more than likely under 150 bucks to get them adjusted every 7,500 miles. Chances are most people who own this bike will make it through ONE adjustment and will sell/trade/wreck it before the bike makes it to 15K.
