Throttle Tube Replacement

RE: Throttle Tube Replacement
At least you solved your own problem. As you can see, I had to have some smart alec (sp?) come along and point out the error in my ways.[:'(] All kidding aside, I am glad that Eric was there because I was about to pull my hair out. It was the evening after a long day of riding in which I took a really hard fall. My back was killing me and I was losing patience. From now on I will start every throttle re-assembly by removing the cables from the carb side.
BTW, just to close the book on this chapter of modding, I checked my grips this evening. It looks like bryantjt, sullydirt and Kawi Wawiwere allcorrect, the spray adhesive is not as permanent as I had suspected. On the throttle side, I either did not use any at all (I mentioned this as a possibility) or it really did not provide any adhesion. The grip pushes back very easily. As a matter of fact, even on the clutch side (with the knurled section on the handlebar), I can get the grip to move pretty easily. I did not do the swap this evening because I had other things going on, but itlooks like I will be able to do this with just about zero difficulty. I guess in my zeal to be prepared, I jumped the gun and was overcomplicating things. Oh well, better to be over-prepared than under I guess.

RE: Throttle Tube Replacement
Yea when I installed the heated grips on my wife's bike, all I did was take a razor knife and make a straight line cut being careful not to cut too deep, and the grip came right off, in fact there was no glue left on the plastic at all. The heated grips slid right on so hard that I decided not to use glue at all. And with the Acerbis hand guards on, the grips can't slide off even if it moved.

RE: Throttle Tube Replacement
Why would you go to all the trouble of unhooking the cables from the carbie? It only took me about 2 hours of swearing and cursing to get the throttle back togeather [:@]
