I loved that movie. I even had the model of the sub and put it together. Yeah, Raquel Welch

Oops, wrong movie. I had the model of the sub from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"

My Klx was pretty hard to start today after 4 days. It took about 30 seconds or so of cranking (only a few seconds at a time of course.) The colder weather definitely seems to be the culprite. One thing, After the hard starting, Mine has a flat spot at around 2500 RPM's. It goes away in a minute or 2 but I was wondering if they all do it. BTW, I was always taught that long periods of cranking will destroy a starter.

I havn't read this thread, just chiming in on the last page. I have never had a problem starting my klx until today. It's always warm in S Florida.

The scoop
1. Bikehas not been started in about a month or longer (bought a ktm 640 and went to Costa Rica), left the fuel switch on.
2. I had never had a problem before in 1.5 years.
3. Fuel may be a little "ripe"....too lazy to drain the bowl.
4. Gave it a tiny shot of ether into the airbox, started right up....but sputtered.
5. Ran to gas station and topped her off.....ran much better.....hauled azzin the sand around my warehouse for about an hour , running better than I remember.
6. Let her sit while I cooked a corned beefin the turkey fryer...like I was told.
7. Three hours later "ie now" started right up.....it was the fuel in the bowl for me.

I'm changing the oil right now.
