Default Stripped Oil Drain plug

Hi Everyone,

I was tightening the oil drain bolt on my newly purchased 2006 to the 11 lb. spec and found the case threads to be stripped. Guess the previous owner had gone crazy over-tightening it once or twice. Does anyone happen to have the Time-Sert kit for this repair that they would be willing to loan out? It looks like the kit is model 1015 for a M10x1.5 with a 14mm insert. Thanks in advance!

Same thing happened with my 06.

I ended up just cutting new threads and getting a longer bolt. The bolt was a bit too long and prevented the shifting lever from springing back up after a downshift... but once it was cut to the right length it worked out just fine.

So yeah... get a slightly longer bolt and cut some new threads and you'll be good.

You can also buy drain bolts with oversize threads that will actually cut a larger thread on installation. I used one on my Husky WR165 this past year when i found out that the previous owner stripped, then siliconed the stock drain bolt.

Quick google search

Oil Pan Drain Plug-Easy Repair

Most parts places stock them, and they're cheap.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up ordering the time-sert kit because I'm OCD about these kinds of things!
