I'm at 84 km per tank right now, running in the engine top end, not going for it, i figure there's something wrong with the tuning. Does yours pops and detonates like crazy on deccelerations?
I get about 110km to the fuel light coming on when riding average power around town etc & 80-90km when riding like an absolute SM hooligan!!

The only popping I get is with 2 lean flat(ish) spots I have at 2500rpm & 5000rpm, which I will iron out next time plug the bike into my laptop. 80km while running-in is terrible fuel economy owelter, something a little wrong there.

Joelthailand-
why do you think you need the BEET injector?
I have a 331cc kit but just sold the webcam 101.
Do you think you could supply a copy of your map?
I'd like to buy the API box, but am reluctant to do all the tuning.
My klx is mostly for offroad, so I guess I would need a different map.
Do you know if API will help with maps, and do they include setup help with unlimited box?
How hard is the tuning (without damaging the bike)?

Many questions alric

I didn't think I would need the Beet injector until a friend in the US got a set of old stock Cams, which would means no core charge for me when getting the 101's. So I went for the 101 Webcams & I know they like to drink more fuel! I knew any big bore kit over 300cc is pushing the stock injector to the limit & a set of Cams as well.......My thinking was, if the Beet injector is never having to work at 100% it would be easier for tuning & better for performance.

APi will do 2 free online tuning sessions for you with the unlimited box, anymore than that & you can pay the tech man privately per session. (or go to there shop in Bangkok). I will be saving my .cfg file for my 330 MAP soon when it is running 100% & will be glad to share or help you out.

Basic tuning is quite easy once you have a basic 300 or 330 MAP for your bike from APi. To get from a standard 250 MAP & take it to a 330 MAP from scratch would be very difficult for me or a beginner! I wouldn't have the confidence to do it!!

thanks for the quick reply, I should email API to see what they say and what it'll cost
Have you been working on getting most horsepower or top speed from it?
I mean how do you decide what's most important for you?

sorry about all the questions.

No problem alric,

The great thing about fuel injection is when you get a MAP correct, a bike will run much smoother in the low/med rpm range than a carby bike! Even if the top end is tuned for absolute top horsepower speed. You just need 2 MAPS really, an economy MAP for cruising & average motocross & a high power MAP for competition or hooligan street/cross riding. I can load a MAP in about 5 minutes, from turning on my laptop to plugging in the USB into the bikes ECU.

I do like jeffward's 2 MAP (med & high power) switch on his handle bars, which can be done with the power commander v controller! The PC-v is very good & much easier than the APi, check out Jeffward's postings before pulling the trigger. BUT at least you have got me to help with any APi questions ! I had no one really to help me & it's taken a longtime to get almost right ......Not 100% yet!!

I think the most important difference between a piggy back controller, like PC-V, E.J.K, etc. and the unlimited API unit, is the ability to change ignition timing as well as fuel mapping.
Piggy Back controllers can only add more fuel, up to the injectors limit, on top of pre- programed stock maps.
Ignition timing is critical in fine tuning and power generation.
Yes/ No??

Hi Guys, I'm typing from Brazil. I got from API, an Unlimited Box for my KLX250. Before I received it, Chatbovon was my API contact, after the catastrophic rains, I lost the Chatbovon contact. Until now, I'm playing with API software (unfortunately there are many Bugs on it) and many mistakes on PDF translated manual (from Tai to English). I really would like to know, if there are any API English support Tech Guy. I have experience mapping ECU for bike, but the API software is totally diferent from any other application I have tried before.
Any reply will be welcome.
