Even riding in these high desert temps of 110+ degrees I still haven't had mine come on.

The what? ... oh context.

Getting back to the orignal post, it depends on what riding you do, if you never go slow, never ride up hills, never ride in mud, then you would prob be ok. If you really want to take it off to lose some weight you might try replacing it with 1 or 2 computer fans. They are light weight and still give you some protection against overheating.

I took my fan off and rode the little bike; I didn't notice anything different so I put the fan back on and put myself on a diet.
