If you have the money to spend then I think it is worth it. but you can get great results with the 300 pipe and buying a couple of jets from kawasaki. The jet kits are expensive and give you way more than you need in my opinion.

 

I say go for the pipe. Do it cheap or expensive, you will love it. For the record, mine is Muzzy and is way too loud but I haven't been pulled over yet. The Muzzy seems to have the most Peak power while others have more torque. For my mostly gravel road high speed stuff I think it's perfect, trail riders might like something else better.

 

Might want to try it in stages as opposed to blowing your wad (of cash) all at once. Remove the snorkle and put the DJ jet kit in or use a larger main jet (which one to use depends on a few factors most people post that they are running a 128) an N1TC needle (third groove) and remove the Welch plug over the idle mixture screw and back it out approxmatley 2.5 turns (again exact setting depends). That and new tires, a 13 tooth countershaft sprocket (which you have) made a noticeable improvement in my bike. I want to keep my bike as quiet as possible so haven't replaced the exhuast.

 

Do the pipe, man. Along w\ jets you will notice a big difference. Planet KLX shows a cut up stock muffler, check it out. Chaparral Motosports will ship you a fender.

 

Fill me in on the intake mods. I'm going to hold off on the pipe for a couple weeks. What can I do with the stock intake? Will I need to rejet?

Jet kit is Dynojet for the KLX300R. (Best needle taper.)
Drill the hole next to the one the needle exits from. Easy.
No holes to fill unless you enjoy roo tails on the barbi and can drink **** all day. LOL.
Save your money on the snorkel and just remove the entire lid.

 

remove the lid even in woods? Im thinking the lid would be a little safer in really deep crossings. Is there much of a difference between the lid removed and the kdx snorkle?

 

Learn to mono the crossings.
It's your choice. I run no lid but rain is a rarity here for 6 months of the year.
Last time I came across a deep ford i just carried the bike on my back.

There are all sorts of opinions out there. Some people think exhausts are mandatory, others do not. As for me, I'm leaving the pipe for last since there are plenty of other mods to do in the meantime.
