I was underwhelmed. Yes there was a noticeable difference but not enough to justify $550 for a full Muzzy, $70 for Dynojet kit $20 for K&N. The best improvement was throttle response, and it seems to start cold much easier after jetting.

Note- Muzzy pre installed my quiet core and spark arrester instead of shipping it uninstalled. Problem was they got a little crazy with the Locktite or something because the bolts to remove them will not come off without stripping heads. Otherwise a quality product. Remember louder isn't faster

I've been "underwhelmed" a few times after modding the klx. Proclomations of "night and day differences" here on KF have turned out to be more like noon to afternoon differences I have defintely seen improvements, and am pleased with my mods, but I must not be sensitive enought to feel the night and day differences.

What it does is........... Let the "250" run as a "250" and a very nice "250" .....
Adding a pipe and doing the jetting and other mods does NOT turn it into a fire breathing "450", Just a REALLY NICE "250".....................................

I agree. mines heaps better after doing the pipe and rejet etc. still not as quick as my old kx250 but it's like comparing oranges and apples. Plus it gives me a smile every time i ride so thats all that matters.

Pipe. Is it worth it?
Tough question really. Depends on your disposable income.

The bike cost me $5000, and it was not my last $5000.
The exhaust was another $500, And it seems like alot more than just 10% more fun to ride afterwards.

All the other mods are cool too. But they only shine after the exhaust mod.

Hope that helps.

Also once jetted how will I know its good? What if im running to lean and burn it up? What can I check to prevent this?
Yes it will be running lean. Yes turning out the fuel screw will help but probably not enough. I wouldn't ride it too long like that.

In the jet kit instructions they tell you how to tell if your bike is jetted right and what to do if it's not. In a nut shell it goes like this.
Flat up top(3/4 to full throttle) means your main jet isn't big enough.
Decel popping means your pilot isn't big enough or you need to turn out your fuel screw a bit more. You have to get out and ride the bike to figue any of this out.

Well pipe, filter, jet kit and snorkel are on. I went with:

fuel screw was just over 1 turn and I went to 2.
main jet 128
needle on the 3rd notch from top
stock pilot jet
drilled slide to 7/64th

I took the bike for a drive after the pipe/filter install. seemed to hesitate when you cracked on it. Also didn't do much until 4k rpm. Is this anything like jetting a snowmobile and your plug will be white if its too lean?

After the jet kit I had better throttle response and seemed like even power throughout up to 4k and after 4k. It was late and I didn't want to **** off the neighbors because this thing is damn loud so I didn't get to give it a good trial run.

Now im going to look into removing the emissions hosing to clean it up a bit.
