On my KLX, I made a sheet metal replacement for the 'number plate' at the front - that way I had a vertical section to mount the lights. I did this because the number plate is sloped. After making it, I realized that I could just cut a piece of thick fuel line hose at an angle and put half of it in front and half behind, which made the light come out of the number plate at an angle, so even though the number plate isn't vertical, I could have the lights vertical. So, on my son's KLX, I just drilled holes in his number plate and put the lights through the holes, with my angled rubber hose pieces on either side, so angle the lights so they weren't pointing up in the air.

In retrospect, I probably would have done the same to my KLX as my son's. The only benefit of what I did is that I don't have holes drilled in my number plate if I ever decided I don't want the lights there, I can just take of the sheet metal number plate and put the original back on.

Is anyone else running one of these? It looks great, more light and less power. Does anyone know if our headlight is AC or DC?

 

Why not install some low-draw LED auxiliary lights for the occasions when you really need more light? I put a pair something like this on my V-Strom:

I would not trust either the headlight housing or wiring with a 100W bulb. But maybe I'm overly cautious.
