Default Brake Master Cylinder other braking improvment for Racing

Thinking of going back to Cali Speedway again this coming August, but my I've noticed my breaking has been getting spongy. My pads are still good, I'm running steel braided lines and bled them several times now. When I bleed the lines there doesn't ever seem to be signs of leaks and I'm not losing fluids. I'm thinking is the stock master cylinder on by '05 636. Don't know how long they're supposed to last, but I have put quite a bit of daily riding mileage on it by now.

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on a good after market race master cylinder. Brembo is the only one I know of but know little of pricing or value.

Also, anyone ever heard of problems with CRG levers and certain master cylinders? Someone mentioned to me that they discovered a problem with his CRG levers and his stock Kawi master cylinder on his '05 636. What he explained to me did make much so therefore didn't sink in. Though I though he may have been on to something asI first started to noticed my braking gradually gettingsofter after I replaced my stock levers with CRG shortys.

So you guys out there who ride the track, let me know what you're using, what you paid for and whether or not you would recommend it. Thanks much.

BTW, Ihave a limited budget, so I'm not exactly looking for *thee* very top of the line. At the same time, I'm not going to go cheap when it comes to braking on the track, so I'm looking for best performance for the dollar. Thanks again.

Try completely flushing your brake fluid with some Motul Hi-Temp brake fluid and make sure that you use a fresh bottle everytime. Brake fluid absorbs water if it's not totally sealed so a container that has been opened can draw in moisture even though it is closed. The water will boil under hard braking, get hot and cause bubbles which causes the sponginess. Also any air trapped in the system will do the same. Try cross drilling your banjo bolts and when re-assembled with fluid in the system, with the calipers not mounted on the forks, turn them so the air works it's way to the banjo bolt and tap the lines with a screwdriver handle to loosen the bubbles. Then bleed them with the farthest one first. Make sure to turn the Master Cylinder to work the bubbles out also and bleed it too.

my front brakes felt reallyspongy too on my track day friday. i didnt have time to change the fluid. i will be changing for sure. thinking about going all the way with steel braided lines.
i only have about 4-5k on my bike. fluid is pretty clear. i am sure it is moisture.

As said above good fluid and a good bleed is critical.

As for Brembo I ran both a 19X18 and 19X20 with vesrah 17 pads and gaffler superbike lines on stock rotors and it was sick and held up all day in the heat.

Regardless of what you run if there is air in the system or week fluid it is not going to perform.

Speedracer, thanks for your followup. I'm going to try the complete flush as you suggested. Other times when we bled them, we just gave it additional fluid from an already open container. So hopefully its just water in their somewhere.

Rraiderr, just curious what did the Brembo cost you?

Thanks.

Get the smaller bottles so you can toss them after opening & using them. Ihave to replace my stock lines with Steel braided lines, cross drill the bolts &bleed mine with the Motul fluid in the next couple of days. My brakes have gotten very spongy after they heat up. The lever comes all the way to my knuckles now. It's time.

Pricing

I got a little off the price but not much. If you look around you can score some good deals.

All I do it drill all the way through the banjo bolt hole with a smaller drill bit; maybe 1/16 inch drill. This way it gives 2 paths for air to escape.
