Again, thanks to all for your thoughts and suggestions. I picked the bike up this morning and it was as advertised by the PO. I paid $2500.00 for it, which I think is fair, and I'm comfortable with that.

Now I need to get it out somewhere in a day or two and see what my first impressions of it "offroad" are. Not many places around here to do that, but I'll find something. My first order of business will be a Nomadic rack so I have somewhere to mount my Kolpin fuel container. Down the road somewhere, assuming I like the bike well enough I'll be looking for a larger tank and who knows, . . . . . . .maybe a 351 kit? :>)

In reply to AHNH666 on the cold start procedure, it was stone cold when I got there, he pulled the choke out, hit the starter and it fired right up. Let it run for no more than 30 seconds and pushed the choke all the way back in and it just sat there and idles. Later, after we had warmed it up some and ridden it around, we shut it off for awhile and then started it back up without the choke and it started fine. The PO said the valves were checked at 3500 miles when he was having some other work done and they were within spec.

To mikesova, yes I considered the DRZ400S, but I've ridden them and didn't think it was what I wanted. Only time will tell if I made the right choice.

I'm going to get back in my read mode and see what all I can learn about this bike and what all the rest of you feels works, and what doesn't.

Thanks,

Tom
