Thanks to all for your input and suggestions. I'm going Wednesday to look at an '09 that I will probably end up with after talking to the owner tonight. It has some mods and I realize it's not the earlier model, but should serve my purpose I would think. It has 7000 mostly street miles and comes with some extras. Any screaming reason why I shouldn't consider this?

Thanks again,

Tom

it's almost time for valve check/adjustment...start cold with choke out and wait few seconds for the idle to go down a bit and smooth out...push the choke back in...if it takes more than 10 to 15 seconds for idle to smooth out or if it dies right after you push the choke back in (need much longer warm up), it might be time for valve adjustments...easy to do, but costly if you need to take it to a dealer or shop to do it for you...

Just for a low reference point, my little local shop charges $40 for a valve check, $80 for an adjustment. Not a bad deal IMO. I've never asked what the $tealer$hip would charge .

I'll be going up tomorrow morning to possibly buy this bike. Here's a list of what is has:

Mods done:

* FMF MegaBomb header, PowerCore 4 slip on exhaust
* Carb re-jetted to match exhaust
* New Dunlop 606 front tire and heavy duty tube (maybe 300 miles on it)
* New Metzler 6day Xtreme rear tire and heavy duty tube (again, maybe 300 miles on it)
* Moose Racing skid plate
* Hand Guards
* Edgelit LED tail light

Extras included with sale of bike:
* Stock Exhaust
* Dynajet kit with original jets and replacement parts
* Extra set of number plates and raditor shrouds
* new set of front/rear brake pads still in package
* AFX-37 Dual sport helmet, XL
* Moose racing gloves, Lime Green

Thought I'd post this to see if anyone had any last minute comments/thoughts on it?

Thanks,

Tom

There is nothing wrong with the newer generations. Yeah you get a little less wheel travel... Big deal...... Properly adjusted the suspension and they work great. These are trail bikes not motocross bikes. On the newer bike you are getting digital display, larger rear break and IMHO they look better. I don't see any reason not to buy the one you are looking at. With all the stuff done to it you should be set.

Seems like a nice bike to me, depending on what he's asking of course. Looks like its been taken care of and has most of the mods already done, time for a 351 kit

I will second that as an excellent bike with all the right extras in place. If you are getting a good deal on it, an extra 500 or so will get you a 300/331/351 kit, and then you are laughing.

I come from a MX and enduro background, after 15 years of racing 2 strokes, I am loving my KLX.
