I really don't know QOS. I try to not venture too far away from what I do know.. You see, I never tested or tweaked with the lid on. I assumed DJ had that base covered. So I went in a different direction - to discover the proper fueling recipe for lidless operations/running.

If you can't stand the induction noise while lidless, do the MCM. With MCM, it's gone, and you get the biggy power and response, 3-6.5K.. Of course you'll also have to determine if you are ready to run w/o quiet tip(s) as well..

Do all this and the increase in power will be so profound, from where you are now, that you just might accept the slight increase in the exhaust note..

Tempting, though DJ doesn't post here and do not include tuning tips on which mains to use or not use out of the ones included with their products. Bummer for me!

If I lived out in the country and didn't have neighbors with children and elderly people close by, and I didn't care what they thought.. I'd maybe run a straight pipe. I also ride some covert trails nearby and the mountain bikers tolerate me since I'm relatively quiet. Everybody is different.

I took apart my full FMF exhaust system to install my new KLX300R cylinder. The slip joint between megabom and Q4 was very hard to get loose. Is there anything I can put in there to make it less hard to get apart in the future? Would a thin coat of silicone based brake grease work?

I'm blind after seeing all the specs. Frankly I'm a bolt-on mechanic and need help. My 2020 KLX 300r is new and I'm desperately trying to find an exhaust. Can someone simply this process for me? Looks like the 250 from 2019 fits but I'm no mechanic.
Thanks for the replies.

I would try some 'copper anti-seize lubricant'. I think silicone would just burn up from the temps.

Agreed - anti-seize. My father used to smear it on the exhaust when putting on mufflers, not to mention on the clamp threads and all.

Dax, can you remove the insert in the end of the muffler? I believe the old KLX300's you could remove one bolt and yank the restrictive "quiet tip". They apparently performed really well like that and ppl were seeking them out to put on their 250's.

If there is any difference, the 2007 would be the one for the 2008.
