Default Newbie from UK wanting few mod tips etc......

Hi guys

Ordered a 02 eliminator........ and heard about the clutch mod?????

Also heard Q4 exhausts seem to be the best option.... full system or just end can???

Any pics tips especially for the clutch mod and what wire to use and where to put it with pics to help a newbie and where to hide it when done is really appreciated....

Also the snorkel removal?? easy??? any pics????? change air filter or not????

Well, if you do a full FMF exhaust, the MCM (Marcelino Cam Mod) , remove and cap off the air injection system, pull the airbox lid off, AND fuel it correctly - you'll have (around) 25hp with a power band that stretches to redline.. You'll love it !!

Welcome spadey, one thing to note is that the bikes sold in different countries actually have some differences. I believe all KLX sold in the US still have carburetors, and do not have the O2 sensor. There are some guys on here that will have info on the FI bikes .

Don't forget to loosen your clutch and brake lever perches just enough so they will move when you pound on them with the palm of your hand. May save lever breakage as they will rotate on impact. Then you can smack them back into position...

Clutch mod is dead easy to do - slide off the clutch switch just under where the clutch cable leaves the clutch lever, short across the two outer holes on the removed plug (now hanging off the end of your pice of wire) tape up neatly with a bit of tape. Job done no more restriction on revs at high engine speeds in gears 4,5 & 6. Did mine 8,000 miles ago no problems - except it will start in gear unless footstand is down.

If you intend going on the muddy stuff :- decent tyres (of course what constitutes decent tyres is a never ending discussion) / take footpeg rubbers off - they just unbolt, stop your feet sliding off the pegs when wet / consider a 13 tooth front sprocket for better low speed gearing / hand guards - keep your fingers a bit warmer and help if you have a little tipple off / change mirrors to foldy down ones or just take them off and look over your shoulder.

Join the TRF and they will take you out on decent lanes.
