I went with a new bar on my 07 and really didn't have a choice. Stock bar had a cross member that made it impossible to mount the bark-busters without modifications to the busters or the bars I wasn't happy with. I got a Moose bar that was about 1" narrower than stock and similar rise when leveled (capable of more when tipped forward, added a 1" riser (needed new mounts for the oversize bar anyway) and mounted my barkbusters to that. Really happy with how they came out and didn't have to change any cables out at all. Had to trim a tiny corner off a hand-guard on the throttle side to make space for the brake cable coming out of the master cylinder. As a plus, the bars were black, and I did Kawi green hand-gaurds and kawi green grips too. Looks purdy

this is what i did to make the Acerbis fit nice and my brake lever work right.
I also cut the ball end from the lever to get it nice and close for one finger pull action. Notice the circle cut out with a 1" hole saw to allow the brake line clearance:
