More dealer fun from Icanrideabike
I agree with Marty... If you truly "can't ride a bike" (I thought it was a joke), then at the very least, you should seriously consider getting some real time in on a dirt bike OFF ROAD before even considering riding a brand new KLX250S home from the dealership (in first gear..??). If you are still learning to shift then don't even think about trying to ride on the street. You'll get hurt or killed. Operating the motorcycle controls (clutch, shift lever) should be second nature when you're riding on the street. It should be like walking - no thought required. Practice on a dirt bike.
I have to agree with Kawi Wawi. I'm not trying to bash you, I would just hate to see you report a serious accident on this forum. You really need to take a MSF course, it will allow you to learn correct procedures and techniques from the beginning and in time you will become a great rider. If you try to teach yourself you will be practicing bad habits which may become harder to re-teach.
The cost of the course will be offset with insurance discounts and you will be less likely to have an accident. A huge percentage of fatal accidents involves new riders. I know this first hand, please take the course.
BTW, where do you live??
