I never could figure out why the KLX250S wasn't approved for sale in California in 2006. I'm pretty sure that my 2006 KLX puts out way less emissions than my 2006 F150. The KLX is a great little commuter, the state of California should give them away free to anyone willing to park their pickup and ride a KLX to work...

Would I but this bike again the answer is, no..But let me say this first. I love this bike its a great bike but its a little under powered for me. Kawi really hit the mark with this bike and for $4.699 you cant go wrong. Would I recommend this bike, yes But when it come time to replace the klx I will look at something with a little more power. I have no regrets with this bike its everything a 250 dualsport should be and more...hope you find this helpful.

I once bought a CA model bike. My guess as to why there isn't a CA model KLX250S is because there isn't a evaporator/canister system for recycling the gasoline fumes from the tank and carb vents.

i too now have a california plate, i had peeled the emissions sticker off the bike when i got it so i had to have kawasaki mail me a letter stating that it met the epa emissions standards, they did so for me and now im legal. im so glad i didnt wait it out, i love my bike even more now. the new plate goes better with the bike, the nevada blue just wasnt working for me lol. when california said i couldnt buy this klx, it made me want it even more. i won. sometimes u gotta break the rules to have any fun.

That's pretty much the way I feel. However, if I were to do it all over again, I would buy it again because there really isn't anything out there in the DP market that is comparable. If they sold a KLX300S, that would probably be the perfect bike for me.

A klx300s would be nice, but for marketing sake, it would pass $5500. I've never ridden a nimble billygoat like this that goes on the road too. Most duals are bloated and dated and not to mention the klx250s bargain price- I'm a kid again.

I probably would. I honestly rode my KLX a LOT, and for all the things it isn't.... I still was on it having a lot of fun!

Granted, after being totally spoiled by a 450f, I'd want to sit down and immediatly do some motor mods to it, but all in all its a darn fine bike and I had some good fun on it.

Hi all KLX250S owners:

I am considering buying one for my wife. I anticipate she being a great rider as she is a damn good moutain bike rider. With the intake valve problem and any other problems you have had would you recommend buying this bike?

The reason I have selected this bike is that its the only street legal dual sport small bike. I live in California so you really cant plate a bike any more so my selections are Husky TE250 and KLX250S. There few TE250 left to buy and the shops that have them want $7300 - $7700 OTD. And that is just too much over list for me.

Thanks ahead of time,

-Jon

i think that you have the wrong bike. the klx does not have valve problems. and how are you going to get that bike into califonia it is not allowed to be bought in california. other than that i guess that it would a great little bike for your wife.
