Hi Folks, Newbie question,

Have a KLX250H, 2006 Australian model and just fitted a Trailtech Vapor. Cant seem to find the correct wire or even where the Sensor is for my NEUTRAL light, although I have found a sensor which could be it down by my gear selector?

Does anyone know what color their NEUTRAL wire is?

And can run the temperature sensor from the Vapor into an existing TEMP sensor on the bike, or do I need to fit the hose & sensor insert that came with the Vapor?

Any help greatly appreciated!

 

I believe your neutral wire should be light green, and that is your neutral sensor down there by the shifter.

I have a Vapor. You do have to use the inline hose sensor. Frankly I think this is one of the best features of the Vapor. The digital temp guage seems to be quite accurate, and I think it's one of the most important data points provided. The tach has been pretty useless on mine at anything above 5000 rpm. I've tried different methods and numbers of wraps on the plug wire, but it becomes erratic at higher rpm.

 

pepe, fit the temperature sensor it plugs straight into the vapor. If you have access to a wiring diagram you will soon find the right colour wire for the neutral.
tnc either neilaction or westoz showed how to fit the tach wire into the correct plug to get the tach feed straight into the vapor which makes it accurate, try a search

 

Thanks guys for the fast responses....will try again tonight! my service manual says the neutral wire should be Brown and Light Green, however when I connect these wires I get a constant light on and it wont go off when I click the bike into gear......thats why I though it may be the sensor in the engine jammed on?

Does your speed magnet on the rotor pass directly past your magnet fixed to the calipre, or is there a few centimetres distance, the manual says it should pass through either the top or bottom part of the speed sensor and not in between the two. This is also giving me a headache and my speeds are fluctuating?

 

neutral sensor right under gear lever ,very easy to get damaged when riding single trail.Look for green wire.

 

funny you mention that. ive also found with lots of miles, the connection gets loose from vibrations and age. it started with a flikery neutral light, then to a full on "wtf is nuetral moment" cus sensor fell off. a quick squease with some pliers make it like new.

Cool...good to know about the tach wire. This unit was already installed on my bike when I bought it used, so I never pursued the tach operation much further than the spark plug wire wrap.

Pepe on your brown and light green wires, I think you're completing the circuit somehow in your hookup, and that's why the light is staying on.
