Brother never did it with his 07.

Well, tell him to get on it Any reason why not? Probably out riding and having fun !!
I have a few parts to purchase, then I'm diving in.
Learning lots here, thanks to all.

Did I do this right?

So the garage finally warmed up enough for me to work on the MCM. I removed the cams one by one, rotated the chain sprokets and threadlocked them back on. I was surprised that even with the cam chain tensioner removed, there really wasn't any slack in the chain, just enough to get the cam off. I guess that's due to the sub-tensioner, which I didn't remove or loosen?

Anyway, could someone who has done the mod look at theses pics and let me know if it looks ok? Basically, the intake lobes are a little higher than before and the exhaust lobes are pretty much in the same position, with the crank at TDC.

How will this affect the next time I check the valves? Should I just set it close to TDC and then place the intake close to where it was originally or does it not matter that much?

All valves were in spec, close to the tight specification (2000 km on the odometer). While I had everything apart, I also installed a Krieger cam chain tensioner. Hopefully that takes care of the 5500 rpm rattle.

Looks good. As long as the KACR is wired with the shoes all the way out, you're good to go.

Turn it by hand, then by starter, then install plug and start to idle, then ride slow.. If it checks out each time , congratulations !

Now yank the lid off the airbox, richen the pilot circuit (Fuel screw) and the midrange circuit ( needle clip position ), put in a properly sized main jet for your altitude, and get some speeding tickets .

[QUOTE=Marcelino; The measured piston to valve clearance is 3,2 mm for the intake valves and 2.6 mm for the exhaust valves with the mod . Without the mod is 3.4 and 2.8 mm . More than enough .[/QUOTE]

Hi,

In the first post Marcelino mentioned he adjusted the valves clearance.
I looked into KLX service manual. THere are plenty of them in the internet
http://djebel-club.ru/_ld/0/Kawasaki...08_2009%20.pdf
I'm referring to KLX250S with fuel injection.
What I see here is:
Engine Top End
Valve Clearance:
Exhaust 0.15 - 0.24 mm (0.0059 - 0.0094 in.) - -*
Inlet 0.10 - 0.19 mm (0.0039 - 0.0075 in.)

Marcelino says intake 3.4 and exhaust 2.8 mm.
It is a huge difference comparing with manual.

Is it mandatory to adjust the valves when applying the Marcelino cams mod?

thanks

In what you refer to Marcelino is referencing the PISTON to VALVE clearance in the cylinder/head, not the clearance at the cam.

thanks, for your reply.

I have disabled KACR for now using a peace of steel wire.

Including image of KACR without wire. Just curious what exactly the part should be pressed out in order to reposition KACR. Can somebody draw it in the image?

Thanks
