Well DHWJ says he's getting more mid-range so that kind of counters RimBender's rpm cutoff EFI vs carbed differential theory? That's the way I read the 2 posts anyway

It's all encouraging though,

It'd be interesting to have an A/F meter and O2 bung on even an EFI bike to see what cam timing change does to the A/F ratio requirements in a before and after comparo. Then the carbed guys would know where the required jetting change is necessary

With the ACR compression is being reduced making the bike harder to start. Since I live in a warm climate there has been no issue about really cold mornings (but who rides then anyway?).

I wouldn't hesitate to do this again and I wouldn't install the ACR again either.

More fun for almost no money. What could be better.
I'm curious are you running the air box lid or snorkel?

Default D-Tracker Mod

I am using an enlarged snorkel and the Japanese CPU since the Thai CPU is way, way too lean. I also had them enlarge the outlet for the stock exhaust from about 16mm to 26mm. Sorry I didn't include all the details in the last post.

For anyone considering doing this, don't hesitate. Heaps more fun.

Richard, I took the air box lid off, did the cam mod, put on the DG-R slip on, installed the dynojet kit as per instructions for stage 2 - which means using the #128 main jet - all at the same time. Took it to the dyno and it found the A/F still too lean at my altitude of 500ft. ( It was 14.5 to 14.8 to one. )
I found it odd that the kit included a #132 jet with nothing in the instructions concerning its' use. I went ahead and put it in, went back to the Dyno shop, and picked up hp over most all of the RPM range. Max increase was 1 hp. ( It was obviously making more power during my drive to the dyno shop - so, IMHO, seat-o-pants dyno can feel 1/2 to 1 hp increase over the RPM spread.)
Point is, since I'm basically at sea level and using the largest jet in the kit, the DJ kit should effectively feed the needs of a forum modded KLX.

I got a 300cc piston now,on my EFI, with just the one cam modified, and an EJK controller(big bore version),local exhaust, quite happy with it, great on the twisty mountain roads her last weekend two up
Previously I did both cams and left the ACR off
There is also available here, in thailand,an upgraded reprogrammed ECU to deal with the 300 big bore

I'm at about 125' ASL at home but the road immediately rises the further west I go. I'm using the CV carb with standard jetting mods but have a TM36 in the box waiting to go on it.

I'll get to the cam mods eventually especially since I've read the Webcams don't add appreciable power. I'll probably just leave the ACR out as others are doing.

- I swapped my cam cover the other day for a spare I'd polished up a bit, and I was eyeballing those cams and gears

With the cam mod, lid off, slip-on on, and a dialed in TM36, your gonna have a hard hitting rocket - well for a KLX 250 that is. Just look at that video I posted of mine pulling wheelies.. and that's with the CV.

Someone on here or TT asked about the KLX Webcams in a thread I found and the reply was that though there was at least a noticeable gain-it'd be the last mod to do

But then there's this review from GrahamGower

OK 331 kit is in, Webcams are in. Initial experience almost saw me on my @zz. Twice. A sizeable bump in the upper mid range as well as an extra 500 usable revs after 8000 is where I am now at. Seat of the pants, 2nd gear wheelie, with a 15 front sprocket, almost looped me with the unexpected bump in power after 6000 rpm. Feels more like an MX bike with a powerband now.
.

Which of course includes adding 80cc
