Outstanding Video !!! What a treat to see AFR's at WOT...

I didn't really see anything unexpected. 132/4n produced the same WOT AFR as my dyno chart with lid off. And I would have expected a little richer when the bike had to breath through a 3x3 hole - sure enough you got low to mid 12's...

I expect those low 12's with DJ 136/3n and lid off - when I get a chance to Dyno...

Mike, does the bike run better - all around more power - with the 3x3 hole ?

its too hard to tell if anything changed
at least I can say I dont feel any negative, feels the same so who knows

still feels like it has great power even in 6th gear to pull away
where stock never had that

so as long as I dont go back to stock feeling im happy

Im sure there is a point you can go with these mods as the carb can only flow so much, intake suck in so much and exhaust so much until you reach the limits

After I am done with my experimentations here I'll eventually ride the 4-5 miles over to a local mountaintop subd and make runs up their very steep road running through the center of it checking for max speed; trying a few main jets.

The nearly new road rises almost 200 feet in .5km

There are only 4-5 homes there at the moment and it'd be a heck of a strain to get max speed up that serious incline in a gear that was just weak enough to not max out rpm.

I know they let people ride motorcycles up to the restaurant etc at the top so it'd be no problem getting in the front gate.

so ive been dealing with insane popping on deceleration very loud very often from 4th down

ever since I did the exhaust, jetting mods

now I was a little confused why it was so bad as I followed the dynojet instructions

any other bike ive ever jetted and had this bad of popping I would upjet the pilot jet
so it seemed strange dynojet did not include any with as many main jets as they sent

and dont really see any mention of doing this from many threads ive read

why I thought mine was worse is from all the videos ive watched you would barely hear anything

I had also left all the pollution stuff on the bike, and from reading it would seem to make the header hotter with the air injection left connected but mine is an even gold color, been riding it for 2 weeks now since the mods I think thats enough mileage on it

so I decided im going to drill out my pilot to around a 38-40
since im using the smallest drill they make its not going to be a exact number but close

I think the stock said 35 it was hard to red my eye is all screwed up right now all bloody looking

I decided to remove the charcoal can, and the air injection since it was easy to access everything

so now ive cut down the popping by at least 85% and the loudness by 90%
it still has some, which is what I expected and thats good for splitting lanes so people can hear you

just before it was soooo loud and longer
glad it was a simple fix with the pilot jet
I knew I didnt have any exhaust leaks so that was the next thing to try

So removing the air injection system and drilling the pilot jet to about 38 did the trick.

I only have the injection system removed. - The DJ kit does not call for mods to the pilot or needle jets, but that doesn't mean it couldn't help..

How bout another video with the new decel sounds - just for a historical "before and after".

I have other bikes with the pair valve
but those all have aftermarket carbs, and stock exhausts so ive always left them connected

but this is the first bike I blocked it off

usually I dont do 2 mods at the same time, but its so involved doing them its easier to do all at one time
I suppose I could take off the cap on the pair valve and do a quick ride
but I probably wont

here is a before and after video
same road, same place I went to

kind of long, but just skip to all the places it looks like im going to stop and listen carefully
since I had a helmet cam its not in the best location to get exhaust sounds

20 seconds into both videos will show a quick example if you dont want to watch through them all

before

after

Another thing to consider with the A/F meter-if the air injection in the exhaust isn't blocked off so that it can't allow any fresh air to enter the exhaust your readings are going to show leaner than the actual mixture in the engine. Also make sure that the tip of the probe is inserted as far into the pipe as possible to prevent any reversion skewing the readings.

Yep, definitely an improvement. I did a little research on this subject with CVK's - The low down is check for exhaust leaks, then eliminate the decel popping with a larger pilot jet or setting the fuel screw out more. The goal is to enrich the idle circuit with either the fuel screw or larger pilot jet. If you think this is wrong, pull your choke a little during decel.

Check out "procycles" responses in this thread - Popping on Deceleration . how much is too much - Intake - Jetting / Fuel Injection - ThumperTalk

One more article - there is plenty of supporting information other than these two - THeory of Rejetting
