I only commute 2 miles. I wish I lived about 10 miles away so a had a little time ot enjoy the ride before getting into work. In the warmer weather I mix up riding a bicycle and motorcycle. In the winter it's just easier to jump in the car. I avoid riding in the rain, I hate being in wet clothing.

At least I will be able to use the HOV lanes.

 

Weather allowing, I commute about 50 miles round trip. It's 90% Hwy, 10% residential. The bike handles this easily. I would would use it for my commute way more often if not for the RAIN! The traffic on the Hwy gets a little hairy at times..especially the semis and log trucks creating all kinds of cross/swirl wind. The MPG definitely beats the pants off of driving my Jeep.

 

Well how does 30mi. one way sound? Crazy? I've ridden four or five times to my job at Stihl Inc. in VA Beach, 20mi of that is interstate. I strap my cooler and thermos on the back and let 'er rip. With gas going no where but up I feel as though it may be more frequent. My biggest worry is how that little motor will hold up with that much highway driving, as well as the miles adding up. That means more frequent oil changes, tires, valve checks, etc. etc.

 

I commuted 65 miles round trip into Seattle, Wa, much of it on freeways with my KLR250, and it was up to the job.If the KLR250 could do it, the KLX250 should be okay too.
