high milage klx's
I mostly use SHINKO E700, 300x21 front and 460x18 rear.
Fronts average12,000km, rears 10,000km.
Tubes are replaced every second or third tire.
Tried a pair of 'metric equivalent' size tires when I was on a trip because nothing else was available, bike was very unstable over 100km/h, so now I stick to stock sizes.
Man ! You're using soft rubber tires...I have a front Metzeler karoo street 90-90-21 the 1st lasted 31500km and the 2nd now @ 25 000km...They wear down evenly...
The rear is now a Dunlop Trailmax mission 140-80-B18 and so far 39 000km. That's a very hard tire; good for Canadian roads that are like sandpaper also I thrust how solid they're build...I'm terrified with all the metal debris I have seen on the road.

There are not many dual-purpose premium brand tires available in exact (stock) KLX sizes.

Compare them side by side (inflated) and the difference is obvious.
The fact that I am a 130lb female may exacerbate the problem, but the difference in size and (unsprung) weight between a Shinko 300-21 and a Metzeler Tourance 90-90-21 dramatically transformed my KLXs handling in a very negative way. This was not apparent when my 200lb husband tried my bike, it seemed fine with him on it.
To me, it was scarily unstable at speeds over 90km'h. It was the first and only time in many, many thousands of kms that I ever felt any sort of disconcerting instability on my bike. The tire, as always, was perfectly seated and balanced at the time.
To sum it up, basically, whatever tire meets your expectations is the right one for you.
