How many miles on a KLX250S is too many?
I'm shopping for a KLX250S and I seeing a few 2006's with 6k-7k miles and a few with 9k-11k miles. What is the most miles I should be looking for? are there any problems that start creeping up around 10k miles with these bikes? This will be my first dual sport bike and I'm not very familiar with them so forgive my lack of knowledge.
Thanks

Miles to money is the question. I think anything with less than 20,000 is relatively low mileage. Condition will come into play too. If it is clean with higher mileage that isn't at all bad. If it is rough with low mileage that is bad. That engine should easily be capable of over 50,000 miles in my mind.

Yep, condition, care, and how the miles were accumulated is the real factor.

Like others have said I'd be more concerned about how well it was maintained. If maintained properly on a regular basis you should get A TON of miles on it. I'd ask about frequency of oil changes and how often he checked and topped it off. I seem to have to add a little oil about once a month. If he ran it low on oil I'd be concerned. Also, take a look at the air filter, if it's dirty he probably didn't take good care of it.

I bought my SF with 8k on it for 3700 bucks, seems high, but I was told all highway miles and the bike was 100% bone stock. Oil changed by dealer (had receipts) and motor seemed to run fine.

10,000 with no maintenance is too many.....
If well maintained, well, no one is sure yet I don't think. I have over 40,000 kms and she runs just like the day she was bought. Yes, I maintain it well....
