100,000km klx
I just hit 100,000km on my 2013 klx 250 today.
It got a new timing chain and head gasket at 98,000km.
Still runs like new.
The valves have never been adjusted.
My mechanic says they're OK, well within specs.
Is this normal?

Why shouldn't it be normal? Used to be that car engines were considered in need of rebuild at around 70,000 miles, a 45,000 mile car was considered high mileage and nearly unsellable for reasonable money. Motorcycles were worse. When I was selling bikes anything over 10,000 miles was "high mileage" except Gold Wings, but they were considered high mileage if over around 30,000 miles and due for a rebuild.
I had a customer bought a 36,000 mile CB750 K4. He rode it for the summer then tore it apart thinking it needed rebuilt. Everything was in spec so he honed the cylinders and put in new rings, nothing else needed.. My employer had an impeccable CB900F with the sport control kit, nothing needed whatsoever. We couldn't sell it for anything over around a grand. Things have changed. We learned we weren't dealing with the 1950s technology anymore and with the Japanese cars seeing over 200,000 miles in the 70s-80s there was no reason the bikes shouldn't easily do 100,000 miles and more if maintained and ridden.
Congratulations of being able to tolerate that seat for 100,000 Klicks (around 62,000 miles) I think your butt would have been worn out before the bike. Keep on going with it.

I used a custom cruiser seat my uncle gave me for a few years, and for the past few years I've had a Seat Concepts seat.
Very comfortable.
I also have a larger gas tank and often ride over 250km without stopping.
My longest one day ride was 1100km, from Gaspé QC to Montreal QC all on secondary roads, no expressways.

You're really getting your money's worth!
I've only had my KLX for a year and a half and it's the best transportation bike I've ever owned. I hope to do half as good as you're doing with yours.
