I have the $80.00 Pro Taper bars and can tell you they are tough and will take a lot of abuse without bending.I've seen them around on sale for about $60.00-$70.00. It requires at least the use of big bar adapters whichraise the bar clamps3/4". I'm about 5'10" and went with CR mid high bars. Without the bar adapters I used CR high bars. All your controls will work fine with the big bars except depending on the type of hand guards you have you may need adapters for those as well. I have Cycra Pro Bendswith the triple clamp mount which works great for routing your cables and is ultra strong. I've heard good reports from the Rocky Mountain brand Longhorn.

I have the Pro Taper Carmichael Bend. They are a little wider than stock, further forward and a little shorter... but the net rise is 1/2" higher because you need adapter blocks for the wider diameter bar. Best of all they are much stiffer and steerign feels more direct. On hte down side... I chose ot grind down the little **** on the controls instead of drill a hole in the bar. As a result, my turn signal controls can rotate a little.

Well, I just went ahead and purchased the black Pro Tapers..............hope they hold up better than my cheap steel ones.
I also got some rim locks to go with my new trakmasters.

As soon as this guy on Ebay sends my lift[:@], I'll have all the new goodies on and ready to go.

So now I have a new fender bag, tires, heavy duty tubes, sprocket, chain, handlebars, grips, handguards and rim locks.
I alsobought a co2 inflator, small spoons and spare tube to put in bag....just in case.
Starting to all come together...........once I get the exhaust, free mods and jetting done, I should be all set.

Thanks again to all members of this site.........

That's funny. You should know better than that.

Just wait until you want to change your seat cover for no apparent reason. Or maybe it's some new levers that come out that you all of a sudden just have to have. Oh wait, no, you read about standing up while riding, which reminds you that you absolutely must get the IMS Pro-Series wide footpegs. That's okay, you will actually save money on them because you can combine shipping with the new folding mirrors that you are going to get to replace the other folding mirrors that you got to replace the stock ones that you broke. Actually, if you get just $24 more stuff, you can get free shipping, so now you need to see what else you need that costs $24. Is it the shin guards or the fork bleeder valves. Oh well, just get them both. You are going to need them anyway at some point, might as well get them now since you are already over the $100 hurdle for free shipping. Now that you mention it, that makes this a perfect time to get some new gloves. No use waiting until fall when you have free shipping now. Plus they are on sale.

I could go on. Have a made my point yet?

I can't put my finger on it precisely but it sure feels good to have a big box of kit ready to bolt on ... upgrades, improvements, extra features. It's just so satisfying doing the research, sourcing the parts, getting it all ready, installing, testing, tweaking, and then reaping the benefits. It's addicting for sure. Yep, you might be set ... for a while. But soon you'll need another fix. Guaranteed.
