I do all work on my bike except for mounting tires.
darn...that's the easiest part of working on the bike!!!!!! PATIENCE is key to mounting tires.....I do rig tires in under a minute and all it takes is patience......the same as a bike tire they will all but just fall off the rim....you just gotta know how to fanagle it!.I use a few drops of Dawn dish detergent mixed with water in a spray bottle.....It dries to a glue like substance and a rewet does not bother it because it get's so sticky.also a good set of tire irons from motion pro works well too!.insert the valve stem first and spin the nut on and the work the tire on.if you can get half the tire on at a shot i can usually walk them on by hand until the second side of the tire where then i run it on with 1 iron........It just takes finess.....I can swap a bike tire and tube in under 5 mintues on my klx which is fun to do as i usually bet my buddies a beer and they lose so i end up with free beer which is awesome!.

fit a rim lock as well and leave the valve nut loose ... or off

of course this only applies for off road

thank bro, i appreciate it. I may just drop them off and get it done right cuz i'm going down to montana for the weekend anyway.

When i did it though i followed this pretty much to the T:

i dont know if theres just a sharp edge inside (i doubt) or the stems broke? I was really careful not to pinch the tubes but who knows really. I did everyting less the baby powder as suggested.

oh well, at least i didnt crash
Here's an excellent 3-part video for changing tires:

That was my quote that you were replying to. The reason why is that my dealer mounts and balances for free when you bring the rimas long as you buy the tire from him. I buy all my motorcycle tires from him.

I do mount my own tires on my mountain bike.

my two cents worth....I wouldn't use anything that is oil-based...oil will cause rubber to swell (I had a car that someone mistakingly (at a garage none the less) put power steering fluid in the master cylinder...and I had to replace everything except the lines, shoesand pads)

I use dish soap, never thought of watering it down, but sounds like a great idea

yup....Dawn dish detergent....a couple good squeezes into a heavy duty spray bottle and then filler er up with water the rest of the way....when it dries it works like tire glue.It works good and i have been doing it for years....learned the trick from running my shifter carts as those are known to sping a rim in a tire and wreck the bead if they aren't done right.....an old guy showed me this cheap free trick.
