Default slipons melting airbox?

Is there a concern of the plastic getting melted? I just installed an FMF Q4 but haven't started the bike yet and was thinking of putting some aluminum tape over the plastic as a precaution. Anyone have experience with this issue?

Default update, fmf fit issue

I live about 50 miles from fmf, after numerous phone calls, humberto asked me to send the pipe so they could see if there was a problem. I told him theres no if, Im looking at the problem and how are they gonna know unless the have the bike. I ended up taking off work loading the bike and driving to fmf. they looked at it scratched thier heads talked made little sharpie marks, took the muffler off ano on a couple times, I thought they were going to come out and say there was no problem. then, like magic they found a header and muffler that fit perfectly. buthe pipe now represented a 750.00 investment. I did thier r&d for them at my own expense. I told them i wasnt happy about it im not doing thier advertising too. I took the stickers off the can and one i had on my fork leg and dropped them in the parking lot as they were congratulating me, for them finding the right pipe. Nice work fmf (not) thats the one I should have pulled out of the box.

They charged you an additional $750 or they had you pay the difference between what you paid for the incorrect pipe and header and the new (correct-fitting) pipe and header? For what these exhaust systems cost, (and I'm referring to ALL of the manufacturers, here) these guys have got to be raking in the dough. . . . FMF should have GIVEN you a new system for doing their R&D for them! Bastards!

They should have at least taken you to the local strip club for lunch. Hooked you up with something at least. Hmmmmmmm

Wow I don't know what the haps is with your header/canister set up. You would have thought they would have taken care of you for the inconvenience. Post up some pics to show them their system doesn't fit. At least people won't buy their stuff after they see the problems.

The setup on the wifes 09 klx250s fits bitchin'. I gots no complaints. No airbox melting at all...

It is little bit of a chore to rejet if you have not done it before. You must remove the gastank and remove the carb from the top. It is a little tricky removing the throttle cable but once you have done it ,it is not a big deal. Since you plan on rejeting order a Dynojet kit, it is the best out there, plus it comes with instuctions. Bob Billen
