Default First slip

Well I guess it was going to happen sometime. I headed to the store after work with 2 mole traps in the pelican case (they are out of control this year, we have over 30 mole hills in the back yard) Anyway I was heading into the parking lot and went to turn doing maybe 10 and all of the sudden the back started to drift, and I mean like the flat track kind of drift. Well it had to be in front of someone I know, the guy that owns the machine shop that made my sprocket spacer, he laughed as I looked at him. Anyway instinct took over the split second it started to slide, and as if I had been an MX rider for years I put my left foot down and carried through the slide and kept the bike from going down, but very unnerving to say the least. We don't have any snow left and there is no ice as the temps were 45-50 so there was no real reason to have slid. But I walked to the store and noticed that the parking lot had this greasy film on the entire parking lot. I found out by the store manager who is a friend of mine that all of the ice melt that was used the week before had left it a little slippery. So watch those parking lots, and I guess the dirt tires probably contributed to it a little. I'm actually glad it happened, it makes you re-set your riding defenses. Now I need to check the traps and see if I got anything,.....I'll post pics hehe And if the traps don't work, I'll get some shot shells for the 44 magnum and sit in a lawn chair waiting for the little weasels....or rather moles to stir the ground.

At least you kept it up, good work. That's one of my biggest fears is hitting a slick spot in the middle of a turn, like something you can't really see on the road but left a slippery film on top.

Glad to hear you kept it UP!!!!!!!LOL

Yeah I know the feeling, I'm new to dirt bikes and I've been riding alot on my own cause everyone I know with bikes has a normal 9-5 job, well I try to get out alot because I'm learning. But man have I really scared the crap outta myself a few times, I mean I've got to get on it a little, NO??? how else am I gonna learn?? Needless to say, at 34- my bones just don't bend and sway as they used to and I've come close to dropping it, even in the parking lot at the dealer, which was probably the most embarrissing thing yet.

I only wish I would have took up the sport 15 years ago when I was wifeless and two less kids..........I have no time now!!!!!!!![>:]

Be safe.......

I've layed mine done a couple times in the dirt, no big deal. Hell, my girlfriend dumped mine in the back yard after 20 mins of me getting the bike home from the dealer lol, I still to this day don't know what I was thinking letting her try it lol. To me the bike felt so tame that I didn't think she would have a problem, but it was just the height of the bike that scared her and she dropped the bike instid of hitting a tree, of course this was all in 1st gear. But any crash you can get up from is a good learning expeirence.

Dave, I've got you by one year and 2 kids (the oldest is 8, the youngest is 18 mos.). Don't talk to me about no time to ride.

Luckily I use the bike to commute to work, so I at least get a lot of seat time, albeit on pavement. I am itching for more dirt though.
