Bing go Tremor38 got it!!!! Now because I have ridden two winters in the snow and rain. The one thing they do to the roads is salt them add water then you get saltwater corrosion. The regulator rectifer supplys dc voltage to battery after converting ac voltage from stator. The regulator also supplys dc voltage to the IC igniter which allows the bike to start when you push start or kickstart if you had a kickstarter. The connection was the two pin connection under the seat from the regulator had corroded off. This allowed the battery to go dead which the IC Igniter was running only on battery voltage and was not getting no line voltage feed from regulator. So I would check that connection for corrosion!!! I would also remind you that if you where to get a overcharge from regulator would cause a miss from to much voltage being sent to IC Igniter.Tremor38 you the man!!!!!!

Tremor didnt tell you what the problem was... just what was happening.... [8D] So there is a regulator under the seat that had corroded and cause the battery not to get a charge? Ur post has alot of info in it....

just messing tremor..... ya did good... im not the best with electrical stuff.... im more a mechanical person. So what did you have to do to fix the problem? Replace an electrical connection? I could only imagine how long that would have taken at a dealer to figure out what the problem was.

Good thing I work at a dealer and having 30 years under my belt helps. I just replaced the connector. I will post a picture of the connector. But remember if your stator goes bad you will quit running after battery goes dead. No kickstater is going to help. Got to go to work post picture tonight.Later

thats pretty crazy..... that a connection under the seat got messed up... isnt that why they are under the seat so they stay out of weather.... so you think the salt did it... damn salt... crap is eating my truck too... i hate salt.

Pretty wild, huh? I guess even the salt air will get to things after awhile if there is enough moisture present.

30,000 miles until the first breakdown is not bad though...especially in that harsh environment.

Is there anything like a grease or silicone spray that we can use on connectors that will prevent corrosion but not effect the connection?
